Design Concept: I incorporated their appreciation for their community and culture and searched for images that I felt would best represent them as a whole to Joliet’s Eastside Community where their family owned grocery store and new restaurant, Gallo de Acero is in the heart of.

Vicente Fernandez, being from Jalisco, MX will best represent their deep roots and love for the music he has created along with colorful decor used in festivals and ceremonies that take place in Jalisco.  The sponsors also wanted to incorporate their love for providing food in some way, so I decided to show the pride, unity, and dedication of hardworking Jalisco farmers along with other miscellaneous images that represent the Jalisco roots to their current business.  The sponsors take pride in being a part of a thriving community and want to show this by paying homage to VICENTE FERNANDEZ and Jalisco culture through the Guitar design.

Artist Bio: With hundreds of art pieces under his belt, Rene Rodriguez began his artistic journey at an early age.  He was inspired by classic Disney characters, cartoons and comic books which sparked a deep creative interest within.  It was because of that interest he began turning crayon scribbles into pencil drawings.

Rene was born and raised in Joliet, IL.  He graduated from Joliet Catholic Academy in 1995.  Learning independently, he then submerged himself in the creative wave of an artist.  Embracing the neighborhood and its culture that he grew up in, and the underground movement of graffiti added to his inspiration while growing as an artist.  Using multiple mediums and techniques from colored pencils to aerosol cans, he continues to develop his style by taking his talent to a professional level.  Working with spray paint and acrylics for his ongoing practice, he has been commissioned to create murals locally and for multiple businesses throughout Chicagoland and surrounding states.  

Adding beauty to the world by turning any surface into a canvas, he will continue to use his art as another voice through vibrant colors and bold images impacting your visual senses.
